OUR NEXT BIG STEP
Emergency Bedding in the Greater Hartford Area.
We are proud to announce the establishment of Connecticut's first emergency safe home for trafficked victims in the Greater Hartford Area with an initial 7-21 day period of stabilization and assessment. Rescued women will have access to a room, food, and clothing at no charge for a short term duration. Supportive and compassionate volunteers and coaches will assist in linking to community resources, therapeutic services, and housing.
End modern-day slavery by providing the first steps towards freedom.
In February of 2018, Families United became a partner of the anti-trafficking organization, The Underground CT. The Underground has been instrumental in identifying and funding the cost for Connecticut's first safe home (1-2 year aftercare program) for survivors of human trafficking through their extensive membership of churches that donated human and financial resources to refurbish the home that will open their doors in January of 2020.
Through collaborative conversation, The Underground, Families United and the Department of Homeland Security recognized the paucity of emergency bedding options. Families United and The Underground have partnered to open the first emergency bedding for rescued women in October 2019 - Wellspring Freedom Home. We offer a solution to modern-day slavery.
